The Pfänder
With 240 Alpine peaks all around, an elevation of about 1,064 meters, views of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and countless activities, the Pfänder is arguably the most popular and famous mountain in the region. Here you’ll find the best recreational opportunities for young and old alike.
The Alpine Wildlife Park
The half-hour hike to the Alpine Wildlife Park begins at the Berghaus Pfänder; the park is especially popular with children because of its wide variety of wildlife. Admission is free year-round, and after a leisurely lunch break at the Berghaus, the wildlife park is just the thing for young and old alike. Petting dwarf goats and rabbits, or marveling at majestic wildlife such as ibex, wild boars, marmots, and herds of red deer, has delighted our visitors for years. Bring your family—it’ll be well worth it!
Hiking on the Pfänder
To enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view from the Pfänder, you’ll naturally have to put in a little effort first. From day hikes to leisurely loop trails, you’re sure to find the perfect level of activity on the Pfänder. Discover a great selection of trails and hikes, whether starting from the mountain station, from the valley, or circling the Pfänder.
Cycling
Aside from the numerous hiking trails, the Pfänder is also a wonderful destination for cycling enthusiasts. Hidden along the Pfänder ridge are charming bike routes all the way to the Bregenzerwald that you should definitely explore on a bike tour. The descent into the valley - with a drop of nearly 600 meters down to Lake Constance - is a particularly popular route. As always, cyclists of all skill levels can enjoy themselves here. However, we do have a few safety tips that are important to us, so that every guest returns to our hotel safe and sound. Please observe closed times and restricted routes; good brakes are essential for a safe descent, and, of course, a TÜV-certified helmet is required. As you can see, your well-being is important to us - have fun and come back safely.
