Meersburg leads its guests through idyllic little alleys to enchanting spots that transport them to another era. This little corner of the world lies right on Lake Constance, surrounded by beautiful vineyards. From here, you can enjoy the indescribable panoramic view of the Swiss Alps.
A City of Museums on Lake Constance
There’s hardly a more romantic spot on Lake Constance than Meersburg. The numerous museums offer a window into the Middle Ages, the Baroque era, and the life of Droste. It’s up to you whether you’d like to get a firsthand look at regional viticulture or learn more about the town’s history. On walks, you’ll repeatedly come across a mix of cultural attractions and historical monuments.
The Atelier an der Burg, the Droste, the small “Fürstenhäuschen” (prince’s cottage), which the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff once purchased at auction, the Bible Gallery, the Bodenseekreis Gallery, or the ceramics at Atelier Benz all offer a glimpse into the richness of the entire region surrounding Lake Constance. Meersburg’s cultural landmarks promise a journey of historical discovery, such as the castle paths, the Kronengarten, the Hauptwache, the Rote Haus, or the Reithof. This courtyard was built around 1760 on the grounds of the Hofgarten. It was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, part of the Droste-Hülshoff Gymnasium is located in this wing. For many centuries, Meersburg was home to the court of the Constance Cathedral Chapter. In a particularly convenient location, sheltered by a dock, you’ll find a hotel today offering an incredible view of Lake Constance.
Whether in the castle or down by the water: this historic town offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy culinary delights. Only the finest regional wines, freshly caught fish, and seasonal fruit are served. Throughout the region, restaurateurs lovingly and authentically present their specialties. Anyone making their way to Meersburg should not leave without visiting one of the local restaurants.

In 2004, the city built a beach area and an outdoor pool featuring a lap pool, a lazy river, and a bubble jet. Events and activities for the whole family are held regularly every month. Those who want to explore the region actively can go surfing, sailing, swimming, rowing, diving, or fishing right here. How about taking a boat trip out onto Lake Constance yourself?
Meersburg boasts extensive hiking trails that wind through the picturesque alleys on foot or by bike, offering an active way to discover the town’s history.
